The City Centre Motel’s decisions to become fully ‘Carbon Neutral’ followed an intense assessment & offsetting of the organisation’s carbon emissions, and continues to be only one part of our ever-growing Environmental Program. Indeed, the City Centre Motel’s environmental awareness has been recognised on a local level, where they took out first prize for ‘Excellence in Sustainability’ at the 2019 Armidale Business Chamber Awards and the Regional Business Chamber Awards.
They have also been recognised on a national level for their Environmental Program where they are in the finals for the 2019 HM Awards – Major Awards – Environmental Program.

Central Park
In 1874, the land known as Reserve Number 8 was dedicated by Armidale Council as park space. In 1882, Brother Francis Gatti was commissioned to purchase trees and by 1887, the area was proclaimed as a park. A Boer War Memorial Band rotunda was opened in 1902 and in 1922 the park was re-designed to accommodate the World War I Memorial.
The park has always been a site for public gatherings and performances and offers comforting shade during the summer months.
